On September 5, 2019, a meeting was held between Mr. D. Gulmakhmadzoda, the Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, and Mr. Christo Krogerus, Mr. Tero Vaisyanen, Mr. Christo Krogerus, Ms. Katherine Burklöf and Ms. Kathy Pritsy, the representatives of the Environmental Protection Institute of Finland.
During the meeting, the guests from Finland have informed the CEP Chairman about the first implementation phase of the project “Capacity Building of the above-ground water monitoring sector”, about the progress made in providing equipment and chemical reagents to the laboratories of the Analytical Control Centre and the Hydrometeorology Agency of the Committee, as well as about the stage-by-stage training of the Committee’s personnel.
The second phase of the project will begin in 2020. The parties have presented challenges to be addressed in the second phase of the project.
The Chairman drew the guests’ attention to the challenges of implementing the goals of the International Decade for Action, “Water for Sustainable Development, 2018-2028”.
The meeting was held in the spirit of mutual understanding, the parties agreed on all the issues raised during the discussion concerning the development of cooperation.
